Everyone in P5/6 is wishing you a Happy New Year. We have been writing our new year resolutions. Abbey M would like to eat more healthily; Mckenzie would like to learn new sports; and Stella would like to join a drama club. We're going to try very hard to make our resolutions happen. We hope that your resolutions will happen too.
We have already started our new topic, Scotland and France. We will be comparing the two countries and finding out any differences and similarities. If you have anything about Scotland and France could we please borrow it? It's good that we're finding out about France because we are already learning French and we are professionals at Scottish!
At the end of this month we will be having an International Week where we will be learning about places in the world and their cultures and traditions. P5/6 will have the chance to try out African Drumming. It's going to be exciting.
In numeracy, at the moment, we are learning about algebraic thinking and solving equations. An example is y+10=30. Can you work out the value of y? We think algebra is a bit tricky but we are getting the hang of it.
It will soon be our Burns Competition. The P5s are learning Lament for a Lost Dinner Ticket by Margaret Hamilton. It's a really good poem and quite funny. The P6s are learning To a Louse by Robert Burns, It's hard when you first read it but after a couple of times it gets a bit easier.
We have two new class novels. Some of us are reading Kensuke's Kingdom, about a boy who gets washed up on a deserted island. Some of us are reading Harriet's Hare, about an alien from the planet Pars.
All the best wishes for 2018.
