Term 2 in P4/5

Term 2 has had an exciting start! Those of us that attended the Halloween Disco during the first week back had lots of fun and loved dressing up in our scariest costumes! We celebrated Halloween in class with our own pumpkin and have been comparing our celebrations with the ‘Dia de los Meurtos’ festival in Mexico.
In Maths we will be looking at Fractions this term as well as practising Time and Money. Later we will go on to looking at Patterns and Functions. We do problem solving and mental maths every week to keep our brains sharp!
In Literacy we will be continuing George’s Marvellous Medicine – we are very near the end! We have enjoyed studying it in class and have even compared it with the Scots version ‘George’s Mingin’ Medicine’. We will continue to do writing every week and will be looking at adverbs in grammar classes.
We continue to grow our French vocabulary too. We particularly like the French alphabet song! Next, we will be learning body parts with the help of more games and songs. In P.E. we will soon be moving on to dance in preparation for Christmas!
In the coming weeks we will be looking at food and advertising, as well as world religions and the foods they eat. Before that though we have our assembly to perform! Our assembly will take place on the 10th of November, the day before Armistice Day. It will be a Poppy Day Assembly in remembrance of WW1. We have been learning about the devastation of WW1 and the importance of memory. We all have our own chance to take the stage, have made our own props and will recite a famous poem. We hope you can join us!
We really enjoyed the Family Friday for literacy. Thank you to the parents that came along. Another chance to join us is the 15th of November when it will be the P4/5 Parent Lunch.

À bientôt!
